Here are a few tips we've picked up over the years that might stop your dream holiday turning into a nightmare:
Take a new toy for the flight. Wrap it up and let them open it once the plane’s up – they’ll think all their Christmases have come at once. They haven’t, obviously. Check whether your accommodation is on one or two floors. Mediterranean villas often have steep staircases and no safety gates. Reserve any necessary high chairs and cots too. If you’ve booked childcare, be prepared that they might not like it – especially if it’s in a non-English speaking country. Golf will just have to wait. With toddlers, write your mobile number on some paper and put it in a zipped pocket. Alternatively you can attach a luggage label to their wrist like Paddington Bear! Pack a night light (and travel adaptor). It’ll not only help you tiptoe around a strange room in the dark, but it’ll help your child relax when they’re nodding off. |
